Phishing is a type of social engineering attack often used to steal user data, including login credentials and credit card numbers. It is a cyber-crime in which the targets can be contacted through emails, texts, calls to make the target trust that it is from a legitimate source and that sensitive information and data can be collected from the target. Phishing attempts most often begin with an email attempting to obtain sensitive information through some user interaction. The recipient is then tricked into clicking a malicious link, which can lead to the installation of malware, the freezing of the system as part of a ransom ware attack.
